My Approach
Howdy! My name is Robyn (she/her/hers) and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Supervisor (LMFT-S) at Westlake Psychotherapy of Austin.
My work is informed by my knowledge of human development, relationship dynamics, and the change process. I am direct, conversational, and full of humor. I offer goal-oriented therapy and seek to build an atmosphere of trust, openness, honesty, and safety.
Coming to therapy is always a choice, and hopefully you can make that choice with as much knowledge as possible so you can decide for yourself if we are a good match. Feel free to ask questions, voice any concerns about the therapy process, and take each session as a step. Please reach out! I am happy to consult with you prior to our first session.
Let’s do this! I can help you define yourself and your relationships so you can better navigate life’s challenges, free yourself from problematic patterns, and make genuine connections.
A Little About Me
I pursued my career as a therapist after years of experience as an attorney and mediator specializing in family law. I declared Austin home in 1993 when I was an undergraduate at the University of Texas. I also attended the UT School of Law and served UT’s Domestic Violence and Mediation Clinics.
After years of working with families in the adversarial legal system, I decided to devote my energies to working in the more collaborative setting of therapy. I earned my Masters of Arts in Counseling from St. Edwards University in 2014 to begin my journey as an LMFT.
I hail from South Africa but have lived in Texas since I was a small child. I love spending time with my funny family: I am married with two children and a puppy named Puck. Connection, experience, music, and laughter are mainstays in our home.
