My Approach
If you are thinking about counseling, it is the next step in taking care of you. And what a great step it is! I am a compassionate counselor that meets you with empathy and works collaboratively with you.
I have had the good fortune to work with many individuals from diverse cultures and lifestyles and I have benefitted greatly from those experiences. I use a variety of evidence-based modalities in my work and they are helpful for creating desired changes. Narrative Therapy is an approach I often use because it respects everyone’s story, values their cultural context, and helps to bring meaning to their experiences.
I am trained in trauma-informed care and work in areas of anxiety and depression. I specialize in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), a dynamic approach that empowers you to embrace your thoughts and feelings while taking meaningful actions aligned with your values. I also specialize in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), helping create and support balanced thought patterns, fostering healthier behaviors and emotional resilience.
A Little About Me
After multiple moves around the country, I settled in San Antonio, where I lived for 25 years. I earned a Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The University of Texas at San Antonio. I am a Nationally Certified Counselor who has met national standards for education, training, and experience in the field of counseling.
When I am not working, I love being outside. Swimming, bodyboarding, hiking, and lattes with friends are some of my favorite things to do.
